Spoiler alert: Most weddings scheduled for 2020 did not actually get to happen in 2020. The year was filled with disappointment… from engaged couples and their families to vendors and friends… It was a really tough year that required getting comfortable with change and exploring new ways to think about plans that had been made.

We have no doubt that Tyler & Da’s 2020 wedding would have been just as special and just as magical as their 2022 wedding ended up being, but we can’t help but think that there’s something beautiful and important in the fact that this particular day in Greenport, New York would have ceased to exist had things gone as planned.

The Weather Channel forecasted 100% rain all day long. We’d waited on this one for TWO YEARS, so we put our phone downs, put our rain jackets on, and arrived at Craft Hair NY ready to embrace whatever the day held! The space was filled with soft morning light, excitement all around, and of course, mimosas. Rain somehow only ended up showing up for FIVE minutes the entire day, and we were gifted instead with the most beautiful moody and foggy atmosphere.

Ray spent the morning documenting the sweet town of Greenport then picked Alyssa up to check out the venue. Soundview Greenport is a boutique hotel & restaurant right on the Long Island Sound. When we tell you this place is stunning… Every window of the main space and restaurant overlooked the water. Elizabeth Earnest Florals had the interior covered in organic, twisty smilax and soft pink roses. The hotel rooms were the perfect mix of minimalistic and coastal vibes. We couldn’t put our cameras down and had to repeatedly say to each other, “Ok… that’s enough detail shots!”

The Library at Soundview was decorated and set for an intimate ceremony. The windows were cleaned and cleared for viewing the sound just before Da walked down the aisle to her brother playing cello.

The clouds that persisted throughout the day broke just in time for the most perfect sunset over the water as the library was converted and filled with candlelit tables. We spent time on the beach before dinner was served for Tyler & Da’s closest family and friends. A toast was given by Tyler’s siblings, and everyone danced the night away. If it sounds like a dream of a wedding day, well, it kind of was…
